evolution of the focal spot thanks to adaptive optics with SID4 wavefront sensor

ReLaX: the Helmholtz International Beamline for Extreme Fields high-intensity short-pulse laser driver

March 11, 2022

In this article, researchers from Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) expose the commissioning results of the ReLax 300 TW short-pulse high-intensity Ti:Sa laser system.

The focal spot optimization is performed using PHASICS SID4 wavefront sensor and OASys adaptive optics software coupled with a deformable mirror.

“We analyzed the stability of the spatial phase with a SID4 wavefront sensor. The calculated distribution of the Strehl ratio over 1000 shots is shown to be 0.69 ± 0.07, with 50% of the shots better than 0.67 and 25% of shots better than 0.72. The results are summarized in Figure 7.”
